Perinatal Therapy & Matrescence

Support from preconception through postpartum and the psycho-spiritual transition into motherhood

The perinatal period includes preconception, fertility journeys, pregnancy, and the first year postpartum—a time of profound biological, emotional, and relational change. It is also the threshold of matrescence: the developmental process of becoming a mother.

Like adolescence, matrescence reorganizes identity, the nervous system, and one’s inner and outer world. It can bring meaning and expansion alongside anxiety, grief, uncertainty, or disorientation.

This work offers steady, attuned support through that transition—whether you are preparing to conceive, navigating fertility, or integrating life with your baby.

Approach

My work integrates Jungian, somatic, and relational therapy to support both stabilization and depth:

  • Somatic: regulating the nervous system, reducing anxiety, and restoring a sense of groundedness in the body

  • Relational / attachment-based: addressing partnership dynamics, early attachment activation, and the emerging bond with your baby

  • Jungian / depth-oriented: making space for the symbolic, emotional, and identity-level transformation inherent in matrescence

This is practical and insight-oriented work—supporting you in navigating daily realities while also tracking the deeper psychological reorganization underway.

Areas of Support

  • Preconception and fertility journeys

  • Perinatal anxiety or depression

  • Birth trauma or difficult medical experiences

  • Intrusive thoughts or heightened fear

  • Identity shifts, grief, or loss of self

  • Relationship strain during conception, pregnancy, or postpartum

  • Overwhelm, depletion, or nervous system dysregulation

  • Difficulty integrating the transition into motherhood

Orientation

I approach this period as both a clinical window requiring skillful care and a developmental initiation. Therapy can support you in moving through matrescence with greater regulation, clarity, and self-trust—so that motherhood is not only survived, but integrated and welcomed.
